Sir John Soane’s Museum

Often slipping under the radar of most culture hunters, tucked away as it is in central London, the Soane Museum is dedicated to the antique collection of one of England’s most visionary architects, Sir John Soane. The museum was also Soane’s home and upholds his legacy, to which he determined all should have access to.

An unremarkable, almost plain exterior does a fine job of disguising the opulence within – a vast collection of busts, sculptures, vases, and hidden treasures. Soane’s collection overflows at every turn and paints a clear picture of the mind of the man. The museum happily extends an invitation to dive into the mind and the madness of this amazing man, and it’s a fun morning spent nosily poking around his relatively unaltered home.

Extraordinarily, the Soane Museum is also available for private hire, where you can dine amidst the exquisite lunacy of the architect’s collection.
