The Photographer’s Gallery

Almost at the intersection of Regents Street and Oxford Street, The Photographer’s Gallery occupies prime real estate with the country’s premier photographic destination. This is the biggest public gallery in London that is dedicated entirely to photography, and so should be the first port of call for anyone interested in photographers of all distinctions, having shown everyone from Juergen Teller and David Lynch, to a multitude of new up and coming artists. Even aside from these traditional avenues, this institution sometimes pulls from unusual sources to create exhibitions, for example from The London Fire Brigade archives, but without ever sacrificing on quality or insight. As well as these world class exhibitions, you can find excellent programming, including talks and events, here. This calendar continues to secure the Photographer’s Gallery as a leading voice in photographic art, ensuring their position as perhaps the only institution who could run the distinguished annual Photography Prize.

The Bookshop

The Bookshop at the Photographer’s gallery is of course dedicated to fabulous books centered around photography, both art historical and in technique. However they also have some really interesting photography accessories and equipment, including products from Impossible project, who are single handedly keeping instant photographs alive. This is a great spot to find great, unique gifts for any aspiring photographers or anyone with an interest in the art of the analog.
