Letter from the Editor
As we head towards 2015 and the six-month marker since our soft launch, LCD Editor, Bakul Patki, looks back at what 2014 has meant for Leading Culture Destinations and what we can expect from the coming year….
They say time flies when you’re having fun – and boy are they right. It’s very hard to believe that it’s almost six months since LCD’s Publisher, Florian Wupperfeld, and myself let the guide take its first tentative steps, when we soft-launched to friends and family at the end of the summer. Since then we’ve grown in confidence, number and, we hope, in stature, thanks in no small part from the feedback and support we’ve received from our readers, partners, ambassadors and the extordinary people and places we feature in the guide and magazine. It’s this interaction that helps us improve, keeps us excited and makes us ever more to determined to fulfill our ambition to create a platform that is the ultimate celebration of the best cultural institutions in the world.
Plans for how we’ll continue to do this next year are coming together… Expect to see more destinations added to the site each week, with our hub cities expanding beyond Berlin, London, New York and Paris, to include more culture capitals from the US, Asia, Europe and Africa. Our network of ambassadors will continue to grow and we’ll be introducing several new Culture Experiences in partnership with some of the most well respected creatives and organisations from around the globe. Following the success of the inaugural Leading Culture Destinations Awards (which also marked our official launch) this October, we’re very happy to confirm the second edition will take place in the autumn of 2015. Expect further details, including new awards categories and our awards jury 2015, to be announced late spring.
We’re very excited about what’s to come and very much look forwarded to sharing it all with you through our guide, magazine and experiences.
Until then, from everyone at team LCD, thanks for your support in 2014, have a very Merry Christmas and here’s hoping that the New Year brings you all good things…
(Editor, Arts & Culture Director, LCD)
